eBike Experience: Gerry Graham

ree

Thankyou to Gerry Graham, Hawick for being the first to volunteer to share his ebike experience with the eb4b community.

Our aim of these posts is to highlight the different experiences people from all walks of life have with ebikes to then encourage people to give it a try.

When Gerry retired from work over 8 years ago he remembered he had an old mountain bike lying in his shed gathering dust. He thought he would try it out again. Gerry met someone who did ebike conversions and thought that was a great idea.

Gerry arranged to get his bike converted he said " it was a great price and certainly a lot cheaper than buying a brand new ebike."

Gerry said "It has certainly changed my life and now I enjoy going out once or twice a week. I go off road , up farm tracks and into forestry all over the Borders area. I also carry a spare battery if I want to go further. I always carry a pocket camera as well to record my runs and take random pics."

Gerry has also worked with people demonstrating new ebikes and showing his converted bike to people so they could see what can be done with an old bike.

Gerry also did test runs for Teri Bikes in Hawick when they opened.

Gerry said "I got a lot of stick from friends who are cyclists when I got my bike converted. Calling it cheating but over the years they have come round to the idea of ebikes and some have bought one. Progress ! "

Gerry said he "really enjoys going out on my bike and feel fit and well for my 73 years. "

"Would recommend anyone to give it a try."
