Who are we?

eBikes 4 Borderers (eb4b) is an active travel project founded in 2021 by the charity A Greener Melrose.

eb4b is a partnership between A Greener Melrose trustees, volunteers, and local providers of services such as ebike maintenance, repairs and servicing, premises, bookings and customer service.

Our Mission

At eb4b our mission is to give everyone the opportunity to try an electric bike and to learn how they might use one for journeys to work, for shopping and leisure.

Cycling is ideal for reducing carbon emissions, it will save you money on fuel, and it’s a great way to get some light outdoor exercise while exploring the beautiful Borders countryside with family or friends.

Our hope is that by trying one out for a whole month for different activities, you will experience the difference a wee motor can make in a hilly area such as the Scottish Borders, decide to buy an ebike for yourself and use it instead of a car.

Try an eBike

Thanks to funding from SEStran, eb4b is currently able to offer you the chance to try an ebike for a month for FREE.

SEStran Funding

eb4b free ebike trials have been made possible thanks to a grant from the Scottish Government People and Place fund.

SEStran (South East of Scotland Transport Partnership) is the statutory body that administers this fund for our region. The People and Place programme contributes towards the objectives in the Regional Transport Strategy, by supporting behaviour change interventions that allow people to choose active or sustainable ways to travel instead of using a car.

Our Funders

Grant funding has allowed us to buy our bikes and accessories, and covers most of the costs of our customer service team, insurance, premises, ebike maintenance, repairs and servicing

We have been lucky enough to receive funding from the following organisations:
