About our eBike Trial
We offer you the chance to experience using an eBike in your daily life before you decide to buy one.
You get to experience "Owning an eBike" which means looking after it as if it were your own and returning to us in the same condition as at the start of your month's trial.
Our goal is to help you replace car journeys for work, shopping, and leisure with a more sustainable form of transport.
How the Scheme Works

Duration: We offer the use of an eBike for a month. We do not offer short-term (day or week) trials.

Collection & Return: Usually on a Sunday morning at the end of each month at our Tweedbank base.

Strict Scheduling: Because we are a small team, we cannot offer flexibility for collection or return. A charge of £30 applies to any returns made outside of our scheduled changeover window.

Induction: A team member will provide full instructions and an accompanied test ride when you collect your eBike.
Cost & Eligibility

First Month Free: Thanks to funding from South-East Scotland Transport Partnership (SEStran), initial trials are free for Borderers who haven't tried an eBike from us before.

Subsequent Months: Monthly charges apply if you want to extend or repeat your trial:

Raleigh Motus Hybrid: £80 per month

Cube Reaction Hybrid Performance 500: £125 per month

Trek FX+ 2 Stagger: £125 per month

Specialized Turbo Vado 4: £125 per month

Deposit: A £50 refundable deposit is required.

Feedback: All trials are conditional on you completing a questionnaire about your experience at the end of the month.
Your Responsibilities - the “Own an eBike" Experience
When you sign up for a trial, we ask you to treat the eBike as if it were your own and return to us in the same condition as you received it.

Usage: Our bikes are for road / tarmac use only. They are not designed for or permitted for off-road use or on Mountain Bike (MTB) trails.

Maintenance: You are responsible for keeping the bike clean and the chain lubricated during your trial.

Return Condition: Bikes must be returned in a clean and fully working condition with a fully charged battery. If the eBike is not received back in the same condition or costs us to have it made safe and ready for the next person, you are responsible for those costs. We check the bikes over on return and you are welcome to wait to ensure that there are no issues.

Repairs: If the bike is damaged or requires repair while in your possession, you must take it to a professional bike mechanic and pay them for any repairs before returning the bike to us.

Cube Reaction
Hybrid Performance 500
A hybrid bike that is mainly for road use but that could handle easy forest tracks and lanes. This bike is NOT a mountain bike and is not suitable for intensive off-road use. Available in small, medium and large.
Raleigh Motus
Step Through Frame
A road bike, not suitable for off-road use but a good bike for doing distance with a range of up to 60 miles depending on how it is ridden. One size for all.
Hybrid Performance 500
Trek FX+2 Stagger
Step Through Frame
A hybrid bike with a step through frame that is suitable for light off road use. This is not a mountain bike. Small size available.
Specialized Turbo Vado 4
Step Through Frame
Designed for all-day comfort, the step-through Vado features an upright body position and the geometry and handling ensure a smooth, comfortable experience, whether on tarmac or paths. Available in medium and large.
